Predicting the spectral effects of soils on high concentrating photovoltaic systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
Soiling losses on high concentrating photovoltaic (HCPV) systems may be influenced by the spectral properties of accumulated soil. We have predicted the response of an isotype cell to changes in spectral content and reduction in transmission due to soiling using measured UV/vis transmittance through soil films. Artificial soil test blends deposited on glass coupons were used to supply the transmission data, which was then used to calculate the effect on model spectra. The wavelength transparency of the test soil was varied by incorporating red and yellow mineral pigments into graded sand. The more spectrally responsive (yellow) soils were predicted to alter the current balance between the top and middle subcells throughout a range of air masses corresponding to daily and seasonal variation. 2013 Elsevier Ltd. In this paper, a distributed method for reactive power management in a distribution system has been presented. The proposed method focuses on the voltage rise where the distribution systems are equipped with a considerable number of photovoltaic units. This paper proposes the alternating direction method of multipliers (ADMMs) approach for solving the optimal voltage control problem in a distri...

Concentrating photovoltaics is an innovative alternative to flat-plate module to produce cost-competitiveness electricity. It is based on the use of optical system of reduced cost which is able to concentrate the solar light on a very small surface (high efficiency solar cell). At present, this technology has a marginal position in photovoltaic market and to take off needs to increase the confi...
متن کاملEffectiveness of spectral data reduction in detection of salt-affected soils in a small study area
Data reduction is used to aggregate or amalgamate the large data sets into smaller and manageable information pieces in order to fast and accurate classification of different attributes. However, excessive spatial or spectral data reduction may result in losing or masking important radiometric information. Therefore, we conducted this research to evaluate the effectiveness of the different...
متن کاملEvaluation of Penetration Level of Large-Scale Photovoltaic System on Voltage Stability of Power System
A power system is a nonlinear one. When turbulence occurs in the power system, the stability of the system depends on the initial operating conditions and the nature of the turbulence. Nowadays renewable energy sources including photovoltaic have a key role to meet high demand of modern societies and to maintain voltage of the buses, while they also provide clean electrical energy. However, inc...

Shockley Read Hall equation poses a limit to the maximum conversion efficiency of broadband solar radiation attainable by means of a single bandgap converter. A possible approach to overcome such a limit is to convert different parts of the broadband spectrum using different single junction converters. We consider here a different modus operandi where a single low-cost optimized plastic prismat...
